Hey everyone!

We are currently publishing a new book on the topic of the Templar Knights. It is called "The Templars - The secret history revealed" by the italian author Barbara Frale. She works on the staff of the Vatican Secret Archives and discovered a very important transcript - the Chinon Parchment.

The book may be good, but the Chinon Parchment was not discovered by Barbara Frale... It was known since the 17th century!

You're probably right but....

In the 17th Century and right up to the latter half of the 20th Century would this document have received such scrutiny?

Our values influence the documents we feel to be 'important' and I think that the Vatican has many such documents in its archives just gathering dust because those that originally collated and inserted them into folio may not have considered the information contained in them to be very pertinent or relevant.

I agree and it doesn't hurt to "reconsider" history once in a while... However, as time goes on, it may become irrelevant to "evaluate and judge" ancient and medieval history because the framework of our social, cultural, and spiritual values keeps changing as centuries go by. Their values "then" were not the same as our values "now".
